Best Forestry Stocks To Buy Right Now

The nation's largest bricks-and-mortar bookstore Barnes & Noble (NYSE: BKS  ) admitted defeat yesterday by abandoning its attempt to compete in the tablet market.

The world wasn't shocked.

Even without the benefit of hindsight, the hubris displayed by Barnes & Noble executives throughout the whole process was laughable. On yesterday's conference call, during which they discussed the company's quarterly results, its executives were curt and unresponsive to analyst questions. It was a poor showing to put it mildly. One would have been excused for expecting humility given that they had just overseen the biggest quarterly loss in the company's history.

When the first Nook Color was introduced at the end of 2010, it was pitched as a state-of-the-art, ground-breaking device. The "world's first color ereader." It was even lauded as a desirable alternative to the Apple iPad, which Barnes & Noble CEO William Lynch said was too heavy and too expensive. At the time, it sounded like na茂ve, pie-in-the-sky ambitions from a young and inexperienced CEO, which Lynch was at the time (and arguably still is). But now, it's nothing more than a massive failure that's cost the ailing bookstore chain hundreds of millions of dollars at a time when it simply couldn't afford it.

    Guggenheim S&P 500 Equal-Weight (NYSEMKT: RSP  )
Equal-weight ETFs own the same stocks as regular S&P 500-tracking funds, but with a catch: rather than weighting the amount it invests in each stock by market capitalization, the Guggenheim ETF has roughly equal dollar amounts invested in all 500 of its holdings. Lately, that has produced better returns than the overall S&P, because of weak performance from the S&P's largest companies. With an expense ratio of 0.40%, the Guggenheim offering isn't the cheapest ETF available, but if you like simplicity and think that smaller companies are poised to outperform their larger counterparts, then the equal-weight ETF may be the right pick for you.

For those of you wondering if Greif Brothers Cooperage has any relation to Greif (GEF) yes. It has every relation. It the same exact company. And it still in pretty much the same business. They used to just make barrels. Now they make all kinds of different drums, containers, etc. That not a very big change for a company to make over 60 years or so.
